Good to Great

Level 5 Leadership
My research into companies that made the leap from merely good to truly great revealed a striking pattern: they were all led by Level 5 leaders. These are leaders who possess a paradoxical blend of fierce resolve and humble modesty. They are ambitious, but their ambition is for the institution, not themselves. They have an unshakeable will to do whatever needs to be done to make the company great. Yet, they exhibit deep humility, often attributing their success to luck or to the people around them. They are pragmatic, looking at the facts and taking responsibility for results, good or bad. This combination of gravitas and humility creates a powerful force for sustained success.
